The Department of Works of the Krachi West Municipal Assembly is a consolidation of the Public Works Department, the Department of Feeder Roads, District Water & Sanitation Units, the Department of Rural Housing, and the Works Unit of the Assembly.

The Works Department plays a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of the municipality by:

  • Facilitating the implementation of policies on public works and reporting to the Assembly, while offering expert advice on issues related to infrastructure.
  • Overseeing the construction, repair, and maintenance of essential infrastructure within the municipality.
  • Managing and maintaining drains along major streets in key settlements within its jurisdiction.
  • Encouraging and facilitating the upkeep of public buildings and facilities, ensuring they remain in good condition.
  • Supporting the development, equipping, closure, and maintenance of markets, while ensuring stores are erected only in designated market areas.
  • Collaborating with relevant departments to inspect projects undertaken by the Assembly.
  • Advising the Assembly on regulations related to digging burrow pits and excavations for wells or their closure.
  • Maintaining public buildings, including offices, residential accommodations, and associated structures.
  • Advising and encouraging property owners to:
  1. Remove dilapidated structures from public spaces.
  2. Paint or wash the exterior of buildings to improve the aesthetic appeal.
  3. Keep premises clean and remove any derelict vehicles or objects that may pose a nuisance.
  4. Offer technical advice on building plans, ensuring they meet safety standards for fire prevention, rescue operations, and fire management.

By executing these responsibilities, the Works Department plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall infrastructure and public safety within the Krachi West Municipal Assembly.
